Born in 1848, Octave Mirbeau was a committed man, journalist, art critic, novelist. He claimed to be a free thinker. He was a prolific author, and some of his sometimes sulphurous works, such as "Journal d'une femme de chambre", which has been adapted throughout the world, remain popular to this day. In 1907, he wrote one of the first travel diaries aboard an automobile, "La 628-E8". The novel that serves as a thread for this documentary; a sensitive portrait that does not hide the dark areas of the character.
